There is so much information bombarding our smart phones and constantly begging for our attention. There are so many posts, Tweets, emails, phone calls, and texts to respond to that it’s getting more difficult to know what to spend time on and what to avoid.  I saw this article this week and nearly dismissed it, but now I’m really glad I didn’t.

For those of us who struggle to find time to complete our “to-do” list, it’s refreshing to read an article about “NOT-to-dos.”  I find myself in many of these time-traps every day.

Emails can be the biggest trap. Every email seems urgent and important, but in reality, it can often wait. The principles in this article help me understand that I need to manage the bombardment of information, instead of having it manage me. Too often I spend weekends or evenings responding to emails that can be deferred until the next business day, when I should be spending valuable, dedicated time with my family.
